Occupational therapy helps you regain your independence

Physical injury or disease can take away your independence and threaten your livelihood. Sometimes, just the simple daily tasks of getting dressed or taking a bath are challenging. Our comprehensive occupational therapy programs use a team approach to help you return to your everyday tasks and activities.

Our occupational therapy services include:

  • Retraining for daily activities following an illness or injury
  • Hand rehabilitation, which can improve upper extremity function through manual therapy, exercise and modalities to improve range of motion and decrease pain
  • Fluidotherapy, a technique used after a hand, elbow or foot injury to transfer heat to soft tissue to promote healing, decrease pain and increase mobility
  • Splinting and kinesiotaping; our occupational therapists are trained in the custom fabrication of splints to provide support and stability following an injury to the arm, shoulder, hand or wrist, as well as kinesotaping, in which the therapist facilitates your body's natural healing process with a specialized taping technique to stabilize muscles and joints without restricting the body's range of motion
  • Cognitive retraining, in which occupational therapists work with patients who have had a neurological episode (brain injury or stroke) to improve memory and attention related to daily living skills
  • Therapeutic exercise / neuromuscular re-education, which uses techniques that help retrain the neuromuscular system to function properly after an illness or injury
  • Patient and family education to help you and your family understand the recovery process and prevent re-injury
  • Adaptive equipment assessments, in which occupational therapists evaluate and train the patients using a variety of devices that will increase independence in daily activities–including, but not limited to, bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility
  • Pediatric therapy, in which occupational therapists work with children to provide comprehensive evaluations and treatment plans addressing sensory processing needs, handwriting, gross and fine motor skills, developmental delays and Autism Spectrum Disorders
