Help for patients with special needs
If you or a loved one is active military or facing a cancer diagnosis, we have additional resources available to offer. Please visit one of these trusted websites for more information:
- Cancer patients:
- Winston-Salem: The Cancer Pro Bono Project offers free legal services to cancer patients at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, including help with advance directives and financial powers of attorney. This is a program offered by Wake Forest University School of Law, attorneys at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice and Novant Health.
- Charlotte: The free legal clinic at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center offers cancer patients an opportunity to participate in Healthcare Power of Attorney and living will information sessions and also allows them to schedule a date to complete these documents with the help of a law student. This clinic is made possible by a collaboration with the Charlotte School of Law and lawyers from the Charlotte offices of Womble and Carlyle. Call 704-384-5223 to schedule an appointment.
Military: If you or a loved one is in the active military, the publication Making Your Healthcare Wishes Known Through an Advance Directive: A Guide for Active Military and Their Beneficiaries from the American Health Lawyers Association will help you better understand your options for advance directives.
