Visiting hours

Although visits from family and friends are an important part of a patient’s recovery, adequate rest is important, too. The following visiting hours have been established to help make sure that patients can receive a balance of visits and adequate rest to support their recovery.

  • General visitation - Open
  • Intensive care - 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Condition reports

Any personal information about a patient's diagnosis and treatment must come from the doctor. This medical information is only available to the patient or designated members of the immediate family. To further protect our patients' confidentiality and privacy, information regarding a patient's condition will not be provided by telephone unless special arrangements are made with the patient's nurse.

Patient information

You may call the patient directly by dialing 336-718-plus the patient's four-digit room number. If you do not know the room number, call patient information at 336-718-2000 and ask for the patient by full name. Patients in our critical care areas do not have a phone in their room. Operators can transfer you to the waiting room where you can speak with family or friends that are present. Due to patient confidentiality, operators do not report on the conditions of patients. They may, however, transfer calls to a nurse's station.

Visitor dining

Occasionally, family and friends choose to arrange for guest meal trays. There is a charge for this service and you can pay in advance at the cashier's office on the first floor of the medical center. The cashier will notify food and nutrition services and your tray will be delivered along with the patient's tray.

We have other dining options that include:

  • Season's Cafe - features assorted sandwich meats and fresh cheeses, soups, and assorted breads and muffins. Open from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Bistro 3333 - offers a variety of hot entrees, soups, salad, sandwiches, and snack food items. Open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week.
  • A coffee kiosk located in the north tower that serves Starbucks coffee and items such as breakfast sandwiches, muffins yogurt and salads. Open 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Gift shop

The gift shop offers a selection of cards, books, magazines, jewelry, toiletries, plants and other gift items. Located in the main lobby on the first floor, the gift shop is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m.

Florists

Volunteers will deliver flowers ordered from off-campus florists to a patient's room. Floral arrangements are sold from a display case in the gift shop located in the main lobby on the first floor and can be purchased daily until 8 p.m. Keep in mind that large plants and floral arrangements are difficult to remove at discharge. Some conditions may prevent patients from having live plants. Check with patient's nurse if you are unsure.

Banking and postal services

A Wells Fargo automated teller machine (ATM), a U.S. Postal Stamp machine, and a mailbox are located in the main lobby of Forsyth Medical Center.

Security escort

A security escort is available 24 hours a day to accompany visitors to their vehicles within our visitor parking lot.

Waiting areas

There are designated waiting areas on many of our floors. If you are in surgery, family and friends will be directed to a convenient waiting area. This will be the area where your surgeon will look for family members to give updates during or following your surgery.

SECU Family House
