Paul M. Wiles - President, Novant Health.
Paul M. Wiles has led Novant Health as its president since 1997. He has served Novant Health entities for his entire healthcare career. He began with the organization as an administrative resident and advanced to administrator, vice president of professional services and senior vice president & chief operating officer. In 1985, Mr. Wiles was named president and chief executive officer of Carolina Medicorp and Forsyth Memorial Hospital, the predecessor organizations of Novant Health.
Mr. Wiles was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Medical Service Corps from 1971 to 1974. He received his master of hospital administration degree from Duke University and Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from St. Michael's College in Winookski, VT.
Mr. Wiles chairs the North Carolina Hospital Association Center for Hospital Quality & Patient Safety Advisory Board and the Healthcare Institute. He is also a member of the Winston-Salem Foundation Committee, University of North Carolina School of Public Health Advisory Council, Wachovia Bank Forsyth County Advisory Board and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Carl Armato - Executive Vice President & President, Novant Markets.
Carl Armato is president of Novant Health's markets. Since joining Novant in 1998 as the vice president of finance and operations for the physician divisions in both Charlotte and Winston-Salem, Armato has also served as senior vice president of materials management and logistics for Novant Health. In 2003, Presbyterian Healthcare appointed Armato as chief operating officer and then promoted him to president and chief executive officer in January 2004.
Prior to joining Novant, Armato was vice president of operations for First Care Physicians and director of finance for the General Health System in Baton Rouge, LA. He was also a senior tax/audit consultant for Ernst & Young in the Baton Rouge office. Armato holds a bachelors degree in business administration - accounting from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and a masters degree in business administration from Norwich University of Vermont.
He is a certified public accountant licensed in Louisiana and North Carolina. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Gregory J. Beier - Executive Vice President & President, Novant Operations.
Gregory J. Beier is president of Novant Health operations. He oversees all operational and administrative functions for the health system. During his 30-year tenure with the organization, Beier has served as president of Novant Health's triad region, president of Forsyth Medical Center, chief operating office for Carolina Medicorp, and vice president for professional services for Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
Beier holds a master's degree in management from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree from Benedictine College in Atchison, K.S. He completed his administrative residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL, where he also served as the administrator for the division of medicine.
Beier is active in the local community as a member of the Winston-Salem Rotary Club and the Leadership Winston-Salem Alumni Council. He was chairman of the Board of the United Way of Forsyth County in 2004 and 2005 and the county campaign chair in 2000. He has also served on the boards of Forsyth Technical Community College Foundation, ECHO Council, Triad Health Alliance, the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce and First Community Bank.
On a state and national level, Beier is a member of the North Carolina State Health Coordinating Council, the VHA Healthcare Safety Network, the VHA Large System COO Forum and the Queen's College President's Advisory Council. He has served on the North Carolina Hospital Association board as both a member and president. Beier has also represented the Region 3 District for the American Hospital Association.

Jacque Gattis - Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer.
Jacque Gattis is chief administrative officer for Novant Health, overseeing human resources, information technology, marketing and public relations, enterprise program management office and government relations. She also serves as Novant's organizational transformation officer.
Prior to accepting her current role in 2004, Gattis served in a variety of managerial positions within human resources, including senior vice president, director of benefits and compensation, and recruitment and personnel manager for the physician division in the Winston-Salem region. She began her career at Novant in 1982 as a medical technologist and clinical educator in the pathology department for Forsyth Medical Center.
Gattis holds an undergraduate degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and master's in business administration from Wake Forest University. She is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.
She is active within the North Carolina Hospital Association and serves on the Winston-Salem State University Foundation Board. Over the years, she has also been an active volunteer and held several leadership positions with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Forsyth County.

Fred Hargett - Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.
Fred Hargett is Novant Health's chief financial officer. He joined the health system in 2003 and most recently served as executive vice president of finance for Novant. Prior to that, Hargett held the position of senior vice president of financial planning for our health system.
Before joining Novant Health, Hargett served as manager of healthcare consulting at Ernst & Young in Charlotte, NC. At Ernst & Young, he led engagements in strategic planning, business development and financial forecasting.
Hargett graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in public health, a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a Master of Accounting degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He is a certified public accountant licensed in North Carolina. In addition, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Sallye Liner, RN - Executive Vice President & Chief Clinical Officer.
Sallye Liner, RN, is the chief clinical officer for Novant Health. She leads our innovation around how we deliver seamless patient care across the continuum - from our hospitals to outpatient centers to physician practices.
After graduating from nursing school, Liner started her career as a nurse in the ICU. She joined Forsyth Memorial Hospital in 1976 as a clinical nurse educator and over the years, moved into positions in critical care management and nursing administration. In 1997, Liner became chief operating officer of Forsyth Medical Center and then, in 2008, was named hospital president and chief operating officer for the Winston-Salem market.
Liner holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from East Tennessee State University and a Master of Science in nursing administration. She is also a graduate of the Wharton Nurse Executive program.
The Winston-Salem community has benefitted from Liner's leadership over the years, as she has served on task forces and boards for Winston-Salem State University, University of North Carolina Greensboro Bryan School of Business, North Carolina Stroke Association and The Arts Council of Forsyth County. Liner was also instrumental in founding the Women's Leadership Council for the United Way and served as its first chair. She currently serves as president of the Winston-Salem Rotary Club, and is a member of the boards of directors for the North Carolina Hospital Association, United Way, Forsyth Futures and the Winston-Salem Alliance.

Stephen L. Wallenhaupt, MD - Executive Vice President & Chief Medical Officer.
Stephen Wallenhaupt, MD, serves as Novant Health's chief medical officer. From 2001-2006, he served as the executive vice president for medical affairs of Presbyterian Healthcare in the Charlotte region. He is a board certified cardiovascular surgeon and formerly a partner of Hawthorne Cardiovascular Surgeons in Charlotte, 1993-2001.
Dr. Wallenhaupt was assistant professor of cardiothoracic surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine from 1985-1993. He received his medical degree from Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University in 1978. He is a member of multiple medical organizations including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American College of Chest Physicians and the American Medical Association.
