Paul M. Wiles - President, Novant Health.
Paul M. Wiles has lead Novant Health as its president since 1997. He has served Novant Health entities for his entire healthcare career. He began with the organization as an administrative resident and advanced to administrator, vice president of professional services and senior vice president & chief operating officer. In 1985, Mr. Wiles was named president and chief executive officer of Carolina Medicorp and Forsyth Memorial Hospital, the predecessor organizations of Novant Health.

Mr. Wiles was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Medical Service Corps from 1971 to 1974. He received his master of hospital administration degree from Duke University and Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from St. Michael's College in Winookski, Vermont.

Mr. Wiles chairs the North Carolina Hospital Association Center for Hospital Quality & Patient Safety Advisory Board and the Winston-Salem Foundation Committee. He is also a member of the Winston-Salem Alliance, University of North Carolina School of Public Health Advisory Council, Wachovia Bank Forsyth County Advisory Board and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Paul M. Wiles - President, Novant Health.
Carl Armato - President, Novant Core Markets.
Carl Armato is president of Novant Health's core markets. Since joining Novant in 1998 as the vice president of finance and operations for the physician divisions in both Charlote and Winston-Salem, Armato has also served as senior vice president of materials management and logistics for Novant Health. In September 2003, Presbyterian Healthcare appointed Armato as chief operating officer and then promoted him to president and chief executive officer in January 2004.

Prior to joining Novant, Armato was vice president of operations for First Care Physicians and director of finance for the General Health System in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was also a senior tax/audit consultant for Ernst & Young in their Baton Rouge office. Armato holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration - Accounting from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and a Masters degree in business administration from Norwich University.

He is a certified public accountant licensed in Louisiana and North Carolina. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Carl Armato -  President, Novant Core Markets.
Gregory J. Beier - President, Acute Care Services.
Gregory J. Beier is president of Novant Health's acute care services. He was formerly executive vice president and chief operating officer for Carolina Medicorp, a position he held since 1985. Prior to that, he served as vice president for professional services for Forsyth Memorial Hospital (1980-1985), and administrator for the division of medicine (1975-1980) at Lutheran General Hospital.

Beier holds a master's degree in management from Northwestern University and a bachelor of arts degree from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. He completed his administrative residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois.

Beier is a member of the Winston-Salem Rotary Club and the Leadership Winston-Salem Alumni Council. He has been the Chairman of the United Way Board and has chaired and co-chaired United Way committees since 1986 including spearheading the 2000 campaign for Forsyth County. He serves on the boards of Forsyth Technical Community College Foundation and the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce. He also chaired the 2003 American Heart Association Heart Walk campaign.

He is a member of the North Carolina State Health Coordinating Council. Beier serves on the North Carolina Hospital Association board and was chairman of the board in 1999. In addition, he has served as the Region 3 District Representative for the American Hospital Association.
Gregory J. Beier - President, Acute Care Services.
Jacque Gattis - Chief Administrative Officer, Novant Health.
Jacque Gattis is chief administrative officer for Novant Health, overseeing human resources, information technology, marketing and public relations and government relations. She also serves as Novant's organizational transformation officer.

Prior to accepting her current role in 2004, Gattis served in a variety of managerial positions within human resources, including senior vice president, director of benefits and compensation, and recruitment and personnel manager for the physician division in the Winston-Salem region. She began her career at Novant in 1982 as a medical technologist and clinical educator in the pathology department for Forsyth Medical Center.

Gattis holds an undergraduate degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and master's in business administration from Wake Forest University. She is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.

She is active within the North Carolina Hospital Association and serves on the Winston-Salem State University Foundation Board. Over the years, she has also been an active volunteer and held several leadership positions with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Forsyth County.
Jacque Gattis - Chief Administrative Officer, Novant Health.
Fred Hargett - Executive Vice President Finance, Novant Health.
Fred Hargett is Novant Health's executive vice president of finance. He joined the health system in 2003 and most recently served as senior vice president of financial planning. Prior to joining Novant, Mr. Hargett served as manager of healthcare consulting at Ernst & Young in Charlotte, NC. At Ernst & Young, he led engagements in strategic planning, business development and financial forecasting.

Mr. Hargett graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Public Health, a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration and a Masters Degree in Accounting from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He is a certified public accountant licensed in North Carolina. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Fred Hargett - Executive Vice President Finance, Novant Health.
Dean Swindle - President, Ambulatory Services & CFO.
Dean Swindle is chief financial officer for Novant Health and president of ambulatory services. Swindle joined Novant Health in August 1998, bringing more than 16 years' experience in the healthcare industry. During his tenure, Swindle has been instrumental in the consolidation of Novant Health's finance department and in the development of the corporate decision support and financial analysis areas.

Prior to joining Novant Health, Swindle worked for seven years with General Health System, an integrated healthcare system in Baton Rouge. He served for two years as director of internal audit and later as vice president of financial services, responsible for all treasury management functions, including project management and financial feasibility activities, managed care financial analysis, acquisition/divestiture activities, bondholder and rating agency relations as well as cash and debt management. Swindle also was responsible for general accounting functions such as financial reporting, patient accounting, risk management/fixed asset accounting and accounts payable/payroll. In that role, he was involved in strategic business and capital planning, cost accounting development, budgeting and the development of profit improvement and cost reduction strategies especially in the acute, physician and HMO sectors. Swindle began his career as an audit manager with KPMG Peat Marwick.

Swindle graduated with a BBA in Accounting from Millsaps College and earned his MBA from Duke University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He is a member of the Advanced Home Care Board of Directors, the Winston Salem State University Foundation Board of Directors and the Allegacy Federal Credit Union Board of Directors.
Dean Swindle - President, Ambulatory Services & CFO.
Dr. Stephen L. Wallenhaupt -- Chief Medical Officer, Novant Health
Dr. Stephen Wallenhaupt serves as Novant Health's chief medical officer. From 2001-2006, he served as the executive vice president for medical affairs of Presbyterian Healthcare in the Charlotte region. He is a board certified cardiovascular surgeon and formerly a partner of Hawthorne Cardiovascular Surgeons in Charlotte, 1993-2001.

Dr. Wallenhaupt was assistant professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine from 1985-1993. He received his medical degree from Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University in 1978. He is a member of multiple medical organizations including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American College of Chest Physicians and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Thomas Hayes Woollen -- President, Novant Medical Group.
Thomas "Hayes" Woollen, MD, is president of Novant Medical Group and executive vice president for physician services within Novant Health. Dr. Woollen formerly served as co-president of Presbyterian Medical Group (PMG) and chairman of PMG from 2000-2006. He has been a member of the Presbyterian group since 1994. In addition, he has served as chief of PMG's division of family medicine since 1998.

Dr. Woollen is a board-certified family physician in Charlotte with the Cotswold Medical Clinic, a group practice of PNMG. He's an undergraduate of Davidson College and received his medical degree from Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University in 1991. He completed his Family Medicine Residency Program in 1994 at the University of North Carolina Hospitals. Dr. Woollen also served as president of the Mecklenburg County Medical Society in 2004.
