Paul M. Wiles - President and CEO, Novant Health.
Paul M. Wiles was elected president and chief executive officer of Novant Health in 1997. He served as president and chief executive officer of Novant's predecessor, Carolina Medicorp, and its major affiliate, Forsyth Memorial Hospital, from 1985 through 1997. He joined Forsyth Memorial Hospital in 1974 as vice president of professional services and became senior vice president in 1979.
Mr. Wiles was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Medical Service Corps from 1971 to 1974. He received his mast of hospital administration degree from Duke University and bachelor of arts degree in administration from St. Michael's College in Winookski, Vermont.
Mr. Wiles chairs the Winston-Salem Alliance, serves as a director of the Health Research & Development Institute and is a board member of the NC Emerging Technology Alliance. In addition, he's a member of the NC Health & Wellness Trust Fund Commission, NC Health Insurance Innovations Commission, NCHA Center for Hospital Quality & Patient Safety Advisory Board, UNC School of Public Health Advisory Countil, Wachovia Bank, Forsyth County Advisory Board, Winston-Salem Foundation Committee and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Carl Armato - President, Presbyterian Healthcare.
Carl Armato is president of Novant Health's Charlotte-area operations. Since joining Novant in 1998 as the Vice President of Finance and Operations for the physician divisions in both Charlotte and Winston-Salem, Armato has also served as Senior Vice President of Materials Management and Logistics for Novant Health. In September 2003, Presbyterian Healthcare appointed Armato as Chief Operating Officer and then promoted him to president in January 2004.
Prior to joining Novant, Armato was Vice President Of Operations for First Care Physicians and Director of Finance for the General Health System in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was also a Senior Tax/Audit Consultant for Ernst & Young in their Baton Rouge office after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration - Accounting from the University of Southwestern Louisiana.
He is a certified public accountant licensed in Louisiana and North Carolina. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Gregory J. Beier - President, Forsyth Medical Center and its affiliates.
Gregory J. Beier is president of Novant Health's Winston-Salem area operations. He was formerly executive vice president and chief operating officer for Carolina Medicorp, a position he held since 1985. Prior to that, he served as vice president for professional services for Forsyth Memorial Hospital (1980-1985), and administrator for the division of medicine (1975-1980).
Beier holds a master's degree in management from Northwestern University and a bachelor of arts degree from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. He completed his administrative residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois.
Beier is a member of the Winston-Salem Rotary Club and the Leadership Winston-Salem Alumni Council. He has chaired and co-chaired United Way committees since 1986 and spearheaded the 2000 campaign for Forsyth County. He serves on the following local boards: Spectrum Lab, Triad Health Alliance and the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Beier completed a term on the North Carolina Hospital Association board at the end of 2000 and was chairman of the board in 1999.

Jacque Gattis - Chief Administrative Officer, Novant Health.
Jacque Gattis is Chief Administrative Officer for Novant Health. Gattis joined Novant Health in 1982, when she worked at Forsyth Medical Center as a medical technologist. She worked as a clinical educator within the pathology department before serving in several roles with human resources, including recruitment and personnel management for the physician division in the Winston-Salem region.
She served as Director of Compensation and Benefits for Novant Health before being named as leader of Human Resources on an interim basis in October 2003. She was promoted into the position permanently in February 2004. She earned her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her master's in business administration from Wake Forest University.

Dean Swindle - Chief Financial Officer, Novant Health.
Dean Swindle, CPA, is chief financial officer for Novant Health. Swindle joined Novant Health in August 1998, bringing more than 16 years' experience in the healthcare industry. During his tenure, Swindle has been instrumental in the consolidation of Novant Health's finance department and in the development of the corporate decision support and financial analysis areas.
Prior to joining Novant Health, Swindle worked for seven years with General Health System, an integrated healthcare system in Baton Rouge. He served for two years as director of internal audit and later as vice president of financial services, responsible for all treasury management functions, including project management and financial feasibility activities, managed care financial analysis, acquisition/divestiture activities, bondholder and rating agency relations as well as cash and debt management. Swindle also was responsible for general accounting functions such as financial reporting, patient accounting, risk management/fixed asset accounting and accounts payable/payroll. In that role, he was involved in strategic business and capital planning, cost accounting development, budgeting and the development of profit improvement and cost reduction strategies especially in the acute, physician and HMO sectors. Swindle began his career as an audit manager with KPMG Peat Marwick.
Swindle graduated with a BBA in Accounting from Millsaps College and earned his MBA from Duke University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He is a member of the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Carolina Board of Directors, he is a member of the Advanced Home Care Board of Directors, he is a member of the Winston Salem State University Foundation Board of Directors, and he is a member of the Allegacy Federal Credit Union Board of Directors.

Dr. Stephen L. Wallenhaupt -- Chief Medical Officer, Novant Health
Dr. Stephen Wallenhaupt serves as Novant Health's Chief Medical Officer. From 2001-2006, he served as the Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs of Presbyterian Healthcare in the Charlotte region. He is a board certified cardiovascular surgeon and formerly a partner of Hawthorne Cardiovascular Surgeons in Charlotte, 1993-2001.
Dr. Wallenhaupt was assistant professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine from 1985-1993. He received his medical degree from Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University in 1978. He is a member of multiple medical organizations including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American College of Chest Physicians and the American Medical Association. He is a member of the Bioethics Resource Group and is on the Board of Advisors for the UNC-Charlotte College of Information Technology.

Dr. Thomas Hayes Woollen -- President, Novant Medical Group.
Dr. Thomas "Hayes" Woollen is President of the Novant Medical Group. The Novant Medical Group consists of three larger groups: Presbyterian Medical Group, Forsyth Medical Group and Brunswick Medical Group. Dr. Woollen formerly served as Co-president of the Presbyterian Medical Group (PMG) and Chairman of PMG from 2000-2006. He has been a member of the Presbyterian group since 1994. In addition, he has served as Chief of PMG's Division of Family Medicine since 1998.
Dr. Woollen is a board certified family physician in Charlotte with the Cotswold Medical Clinic, a group practice of PMG. He's an undergraduate of Davidson College and received his medical degree from Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University in 1991. He completed his Family Medicine Residency Program in 1994 at the University of North Carolina Hospitals. Dr. Woollen also served as President of the Mecklenburg County Medical Society in 2004.
