Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

You are welcome here.

We recognize every person is different and has been shaped by unique life experiences, enabling us to better understand each other and thrive. We demonstrate equity, empathy and inclusion to help each other, and our communities grow and succeed.

Fostering inclusion across our organization

We are committed to providing safe, inclusive and equitable care. Here’s how we define each element of our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity

Diversity

Diversity means the similarities and differences of people found in our workforce and communities. Diversity includes many characteristics that may be visible, such as race, age, gender and appearance. It also includes less visible characteristics such as personality, ethnicity, religion, job function, life experience, sexual orientation, gender identity, geography, disability, regional differences, work experience and family situation – all of which make us similar to and different from one another.

Inclusion

Inclusion means intentionally engaging human differences and viewing such differences as strengths in both patients and team members. The key to inclusion is that we value the perspectives and life experiences of each person. These actions build an environment that fosters mutual respect, trust and commitment.

Equity

Equity exists when each person has the appropriate access to opportunities and resources to attain their highest quality of life. We must recognize and address systemic disparities and how those disparities have impacted groups and individuals.

Health Equity

At Novant Health, we strive to ensure that every person, including our patients, team members and communities, can attain the highest level of wellness and health.
