Novant Health announced the promotion
of Carl Armato to senior executive vice president and chief operating
officer of the organization. Novant is a not-for-profit health system
with hospitals, physician clinics and outpatient centers in North
Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia.
Armato has served as an executive vice president with Novant Health
for the past three years and provided leadership to the health system's
different market areas across the four-state region. Armato's tenure
with Novant Health began in 1998 when he joined the newly formed system.
"Since then, he has repeatedly demonstrated a remarkable ability to
engage frontline staff, physicians and leaders in a way that's unique to
Carl," explained Paul Wiles, president and CEO of Novant. "He formed
and led strategies to further develop our medical group, to involve
physicians in strategic planning and to expand services that are
important to our communities. He combines visionary thinking with
Armato started with Novant as vice president of finance and
operations with the organization's medical group. He then served as
senior vice president or materials and logistics, chief operating
officer of Presbyterian Hospital and eventually president of
Presbyterian Healthcare which includes four hospitals and a network of
outpatient centers. Armato is a certified public accountant and,
overall, he brings 22 years of healthcare and management experience to
his new, expanded role with the health system.
In his new roles as chief operating officer, Armato will work closely
with all of Novant's senior leaders to integrate planning and
operations among the health system's seven geographic regions and the
communities they serve.
